Archbishop Tutu celebrates 85th birthday
JOHANNESBURG – Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu celebrates his 85th birthday on Friday.
The much-loved Anglican cleric has been in and out of hospital in recent weeks.

But, he’s set to spend his special day at home, with family.
The Arch is recovering after minor surgery for a recurring infection.
His daughter, Mpho Tutu van Furth, says he’s getting stronger.
President Jacob Zuma also conveyed “his good wishes” to Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu on his birthday.
“Archbishop Emeritus Tutu has contributed immensely to the freedom and democratic dispensation we achieved as a country. He continues to inspire the nation and the world in the promotion of human rights, justice and the wellbeing of all especially the poor,” said Zuma.
“We wish him a joyful birthday, good health and comfort and urge the nation to keep him and his family in their thoughts and prayers.”
The 6th annual Desmond Tutu International Peace Lecture will take place on Friday at Cape Town’s Artscape Theatre.
Various other events are being planned in Tutu’s honour.
